This position will offer a qualified candidate the opportunity to work in Raytheon’s Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE) Department, servicing all of Raytheon with innovative solutions to nonstandard problems. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in M&PE’s world class lab, performing hands-on-testing of metals, adhesives, elastomers, polymers, tapes, composites, and various other production materials vital to the success of our products.

Requirements

  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Sophomore year by the start of summer 2026
  • Must be pursuing as bachelor’s or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Course work or lab experience in Mechanical/Materials Engineering or Instrumental Analysis
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required on day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Specific Majors: Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering
  • An understanding of material testing/analysis such as: hardness, adhesion tests, sample preparation procedures, and cross sectioning
  • Experience in performing and managing high volume, highly technical work

Responsibilities

  • Mechanically test a wide array of materials for compliance with drawings, specifications, and program application.
  • Work in a lab environment while observing all safety procedures and common lab protocols.
  • Write scientific reports using generated data to support technical dispositions.
