The Position 2026 Summer Intern - Component Process Integration We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love. Department Summary Roche Sequencing Solutions (Santa Clara) is a group at Roche developing nanopore based sequencing dedicated to making clinical genetic testing easy and affordable. We are developing a revolutionary, single-molecule DNA sequencer that will improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways including timely screening for diseases and diagnosis of various cancers. Roche is looking for a motivated and team-oriented individual who is passionate about revolutionary sequencing technology. The System Engineer Intern will become an expert on the operation, theory, and data analysis of the Roche Nanopore Sequencing platform. Following Roche product development processes, they will help take the instrument, microfluidic device and software from an advanced proof of concept to an operational laboratory system. This internship position is located in Santa Clara, on-site. The Opportunity Become an expert on the operation of the Roche Sequencing Platform Design, implement, and analyze single-molecule sequencing results of various microfluidic device process changes and various operating parameters Manipulate large data sets and apply data science, statistical methods, and/or process control monitoring techniques Excellent oral and written communication skills Program Highlights Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Program start dates are in May/June (Summer) A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. Who You Are Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria: - Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student). - Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program). - Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student). Required Majors: Computer science, electrical engineering, biomolecular engineering, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, statistics, chemistry, biology or a related discipline with a background in molecular biology or biochemistry Required Skills: Ability to perform statistical analysis of data with programs such as JMP, Matlab, R. and are familiar with computer programming in languages such as or Python Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and electronic record keeping skills Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills, along with experimental design experience Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $45.00-$50.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
