About The Position

St. Mary’s Nativity School is seeking a knowledgeable, faith-filled, and enthusiastic 4th Grade Teacher to join our faculty. This educator will be responsible for fostering academic excellence while nurturing the spiritual, emotional, and social development of upper elementary students. The ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic who is passionate about Catholic education and committed to the mission and values of St. Mary’s Nativity School.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field
  • Valid Louisiana teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Elementary Education
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Strong understanding of child development and best instructional practices
  • Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a faith-centered school community
  • Commitment to fostering both academic excellence and Catholic values

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching upper elementary students preferred
  • Proficiency in educational technology is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Louisiana state standards and diocesan curriculum guidelines
  • Create a structured, Christ-centered classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and academic growth
  • Teach core subject areas, including Religion, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies
  • Integrate Catholic faith and values into daily instruction and classroom life
  • Assess student progress regularly and communicate effectively with parents regarding academic performance and behavior
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to support student success
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Supervise students to ensure their safety and well-being at all times
  • Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities
  • Uphold the policies and procedures of St. Mary’s Nativity School and the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux
  • Encourage the development of strong study habits, organizational skills, and personal responsibility
