About The Position

A 5th-grade math teacher is responsible for instructing students in mathematical concepts and skills, developing lesson plans, and assessing student progress. They create a positive learning environment, manage classroom behavior, and collaborate with other educators and parents. Effective communication, organizational skills, and a passion for mathematics are crucial for this role.
Requirements
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in mathematics education or a related field is typically required.
- Certification/Licensure: Obtaining a state teaching certification or license for middle school mathematics is necessary for public school teachers.
- Skills: Strong mathematical knowledge, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, classroom management abilities, and adaptability are essential.
Responsibilities
- A strong understanding of 5th-grade math curriculum standards, including concepts like fractions, decimals, measurement, geometry, and algebraic thinking.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies relevant to the 5th-grade level.
- Knowledge of effective teaching strategies for diverse learners, including those with special needs.
- Familiarity with various assessment techniques to evaluate student learning and inform instruction.
- Ability to create a positive and structured learning environment.
- Effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
