About The Position

American Crystal Sugar Company is excited to offer an Accounting Internship! This position is suited for a junior or senior college student in the accounting or related field of study. During the internship, the intern will obtain on-the-job experience, be introduced to cooperative accounting, and exposed to many other aspects of American Crystal Sugar Company operations. NATURE AND SCOPE: The Accounting Intern reports directly to Corporate Accounting Manager. SPECIFIC DUTIES: The Accounting Intern completes the following essential functions within established company policies, procedures, and deadlines. Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability. Prepare journal entries and financial analysis reports. Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and assist in the month-end close process. Record and apply cash and check receipts delivered to the corporate office. Invoice business partners and customers for miscellaneous revenues and reimbursements. Assist the byproducts sales process personnel by entering transaction data, updating sales documentation, preparing customer statements, and producing financial reports. Provide customer support in the byproducts sales process by answering customer phone calls and emails. Support the accounts payable department by processing invoices as needed. Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES: Work Environment. The individual must be able to work in an environment with multiple interruptions, office noise, and competing and changing demands. The individual must be able to work extended days as workload requires. Physical Requirements. The individual must be able to, throughout the day, input and access information from the computer system, perform keyboarding functions, type and use the phone system.
