Accounting Intern | Commercial Construction
About The Position
Spend your summer with us at Monteith Construction in Wilmington! This internship offers hands-on experience working closely with our Accounting team, with the opportunity to continue through the end of the fall semester. Some of the things you will be involved with, but not limited to, are: Observe monthly financial project costing meetings Help to administer and control General Conditions costs, review purchase orders, and check requests Help the Accounting team maintain accounts with utility providers for project teams Interact with trade partners and vendors regarding technical and contractual matters Analyze the revenue and profitability of each construction project With the project team and project accountant, work to manage overall costs as they relate to the budget Assist in trade partner payables, as well as manage accounts receivable Assist project teams with monthly job cost analysis and forecasts Gain a general overview of our Scheduling, VDC, Accounting, Marketing, Business Development, Preconstruction, and Estimating processes
Requirements
- Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and seeking a degree in Accounting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to continue to work part-time throughout the fall semester
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing
