The Accounting Support Specialist position is responsible for processing and maintaining accurate payroll records while supporting the accounting department with various financial functions. Knowledge of general accounting principles, relevant legislature, policies and regulations. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with attention to detail and confidentiality. Experience using Paylocity for payroll functions, preferred. Experience with employee benefits and other accounting functions, preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Accounting Support Prepare monthly payroll and accounting journal entries, including various Balance sheet reconciliations. Serve as back-up for various aspects of purchasing, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Assist with various month-end closing tasks. Maintain organized financial reports and documentation. Support internal controls and compliance with policies. Assist with other accounting duties as assigned. Payroll Administration Review and verify timesheets, payroll changes and deductions. Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule. Process payroll and transmit electronically to Paylocity for preparation of checks and direct deposits. Maintain all payroll records and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Coordinate with Human Resources regarding new hires, terminations and employee status changes. Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies. Train all new employees on the use of Paylocity. Calculate and administer retirement contributions and taxable fringe benefits. Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field of study and two (2) years experience in a payroll or accounting role preferred; or any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills to successfully perform in this role.
