About The Position

Drives finance-related projects and coordinates with other departments to ensure proper financial reporting, including ensuring the control environment is maintained. Ensures accuracy in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP) and the company’s policies and procedures. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of GAAP and/or SSAP
  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting software packages
  • Knowledge of account reconciliation, general ledger maintenance, and financial statements preparation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge with MS office applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
  • Five to Eight years of accounting experience

  • CPA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates schedules, activities, communications, and drives the projects for the finance team. Responsible for coordination and communication with the IT department and Enterprise Project Management Office, along with Financial Systems manager.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports and statistics related to the projects.
  • Prepares various schedules for external auditors, as needed.
  • Responsible for all project budgets and status reports.
  • As related to the projects engaged in, will understand, oversee and schedule activities of the project, including but not limited to, the impact of the financial close.
  • Keeps current on available technology, and how technology can enhance our environment. Responsible for building a business case for new technology or enhancements to existing technology.
  • Contemplates, coordinates and documents impact of projects on the company’s control environment.
  • Ensures implemented projects comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and statutory regulations.
  • Assists as needed on SOX 404 documentation and controls.
