About The Position

The City of Webster's Finance Department seeks an experienced, customer friendly, and organized Accounting Technician I. The position provides support to the Finance department and customers of the City. The main functions of this position include cash collections for utility billing, permits, fines and fees, and other miscellaneous payments. This position will interface with the public regularly either in person or on the phone primarily answering questions related to utility billing. Some accounts payable is also required. Exceptional customer service will be a quality of the successful candidate. Reconciliations with General Ledger are completed with many of the job responsibilities. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. The City will determine the relatedness of the experience.
  • A High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • A valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Must be able to obtain a Surety Bond. (Please note: A prior bankruptcy may prevent an individual from being eligible to obtain a bond.)
  • Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative or technical nature that may be obtained within six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalent. Junior college, vocational, business, and technical or correspondence schools are likely sources.
  • Must possess the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes, including Microsoft Excel and Office applications.
  • Must have the ability to handle, process, and reconcile cash transactions.
  • Must be able to work appropriately with co-workers and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Incode software a plus.

Responsibilities
