Requirements

  • Minimum of one year’s experience in healthcare accounts payable; two to three years preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make informed decisions regarding financial transactions.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Typing: 25 wpm.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
  • High school graduation or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews Check Requests with special attention to their accuracy and completeness.
  • Sets up and maintains account files and records.
  • Answers in-person and telephone inquiries from purchasing, various department heads, vendors, etc.
  • Collects necessary data and appropriately prepares A/P forms, enters system and matches them to weekly accounting runs.
  • Reviews status of accounts and monitors their balances.
  • Exercises independent judgment in investigating and resolving account discrepancies.
  • Evaluates and improves accounts payable processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Handles sensitive and confidential financial information with discretion and in accordance with organizational data protection policies.
  • Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Assesses gaps in policies and procedures and creates necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.
  • Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.
  • Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
  • Performs clerical duties (e.g., photocopying) as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.
