About The Position

At Star Valley Health, our mission, vision, and values guide every aspect of resident care. The Activities Director plays a crucial role in creating meaningful, engaging, and person-centered experiences for residents. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining an activities program that supports the physical, mental, emotional, and psychosocial well-being of each resident—ensuring both safety and high quality of life. This is a full-time, fully benefitted, at-will position.

Requirements

  • Ability to lead, train, motivate, and serve as an example in conduct and appearance.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set goals, manage deadlines, and coordinate meetings.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Willingness to consider the input and insights of others.
  • Eligible for certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activities Professional.
  • Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, with at least one year full-time in a therapeutic activities program.
  • Qualified Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
  • Graduate of an approved recreational program (e.g., Activity Professional Course through Casper College).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets insurance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and administer ongoing activities tailored to the needs and interests of each resident—including group and individual activities, outings, spiritual programs, creative arts, and more.
  • Provide activities programming daily, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Ensure at least 30 minutes of dedicated activities staff time per resident per week.
  • Encourage resident participation and ensure needed equipment and supplies are accessible and well organized.
  • Develop and manage the Activity Department budget.
  • Provide daily leadership and direction for Activity Assistants.
  • Serve as the department liaison during Auxiliary meetings.
  • Foster strong family and community engagement through newsletters, outreach, and events.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and facility committees.
  • Complete MDS/CAA assessments.
  • Follow all state, federal, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Assist with resident transport to/from activities and provide minimal assistance with transfers, walking, and wheelchair mobility.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and regulatory standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
