About The Position

This summer seasonal position is responsible for leading and organizing activities for the summer programs and maintaining a safe play environment, providing arts, crafts, daily activities, and supervising program participants. Hours will vary based on candidate availability, department needs, and weather. Examples of Work Performed: The following duties are typical of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, 18 years of age, and advanced course work in the field of education, recreation, business management, and at least two years experience in recreation program leadership or any equivalent combination of experience and training provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets County standards.
  • Candidate must pass a criminal background check and driving record check to be eligible for this position.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified or ability to obtain one before programming starts.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading and organizing activities for the summer programs and maintaining a safe play environment, providing arts, crafts, daily activities, and supervising program participants.
  • Oversee Program Leaders during scheduled programming.
  • Plan, organize and lead programs & activities for the summer programs.
  • Maintain order, supervise and guide scheduled and unscheduled activities for program participants.
  • Review and prepare necessary items to implement daily lesson plans.
  • Maintain a safe play environment for program participants including checking activity area for hazardous conditions, i.e. litter, broken glass, equipment condition.
  • Prepare all required reports on accidents & incidents including participant injury or discipline.
  • Prepare all required forms including incident reports, action reports, attendance logs & evaluation forms.
  • Order required supplies & equipment and maintain & submit all records and receipts for approved expenses for the playground & tennis programs.
  • Respond to citizen concerns.
  • Report unlawful behavior, vandalism, and hazardous conditions to the proper site authorities and to the Recreation Superintendent promptly.
