Specific Job Information: The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (MFWP) Regional Headquarters offices provide information and services to the hunting, fishing, and recreational public within the region. The regional headquarters supports and coordinates all activities of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks in the region. It develops and implements local fish, wildlife, parks, law enforcement, and information programs with direction and support from Helena headquarters. The Front Desk unit, under the direction of the regional office manager, provides customer service to the sportsmen/women of the state of Montana and technical and administrative support to all programs at the MFWP Regional Headquarters. The regional administrative support staff is the public’s primary and initial contact, presenting a professional and knowledgeable image for FWP. The front information desk serves as the primary FWP license agent and is responsible for accurately issuing a variety of hunting, fishing, and miscellaneous licenses, permits, and decals, as well as correcting errors on licenses sold by external license providers. Job Duties: This position provides customer service, technical, and administrative support to all the fish, wildlife, state parks, law enforcement, and information and education programs. Provides customer service duties associated with providing public information and services on a multitude of topics and activities that primarily cover hunting, fishing, trapping, and recreational opportunities in Montana. Collects and handles money associated with license sales, entering it accurately into a cash register. Must be detail-oriented to track quotas for black bear, mountain lion, bighorn sheep, and furbearing species during their respective seasons. In addition, maintains and tracks data within a computer tracking system. Assists the block management program from this local regional office (Region 5), issuing permission slips from late August through the fall. Collects and accurately counts coupons and permission slips turned in by landowners after the hunting season is completed, which can involve up to three months of repetitive work. That data is then accurately input into Excel spreadsheets. This position requires advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft 365 (O365).

Requirements

  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of job-related work experience.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft 365 (O365).
