About The Position

Serves as the first point of contact for all patients referred to the Northeastern Early Steps Program; Responds to calls from patients, physicians, and other community providers; Schedules patients for initial eligibility evaluation appointments; Assigns case managers to new referrals; Enters demographics and patient information into Statewide Data System; Provides evaluation results to primary care physicians; Maintains current referral forms for primary referral sources. Functions in a lead intake role related to position responsibilities. Responds to telephone calls from referral sources which includes: identifies reason for referral with patient via conversations with patients/referral sources. Communicates with families the procedures and guidelines for referrals, answer questions, collects insurance documentation and demographic information; schedule patients for evaluation appointment based on identified concerns, and assign case manager. Mail out confirmation letters, maintain appointment schedule and update files. Enter demographics and patient information into Early Steps Statewide Data System, EPIC and verifies Medicaid eligibility. Serves as the EPIC Team Lead for the Intake Team. Checking of the NELES referral inbox and taking referrals as necessary putting them on the referral log. Updates the Intake Procedures when changes occur to the process

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • This position requires a Level II background check including fingerprinting

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree and four years clerical/customer service experience preferred, ideally in a health care or education serving pediatrics population
  • One year computer imputing data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred
