About The Position

Reporting to Court Administrator, the Administrative Assistant-Tribal Court provides essential clerical and administrative support to ensure the smooth daily operations of the Tribal Court. This entry level role assists Tribal Court staff and judges by performing routine office tasks, maintaining records, supporting scheduling needs, and upholding culturally respectful and confidential court processes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a legal, administrative or tribal government support role preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking and sound problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to use discretion and work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and documentation management skills.
  • High level of personal integrity and professional ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong ability to interact diplomatically and with professional maturity.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively under pressures of deadlines and established priorities.
  • Positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Basic computer skills including email, word processing, and data entry.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Willingness to learn court procedures, tribal protocols, and administrative processes.
  • Ability to work respectfully with Tribal leadership, elders, and community members.
  • Basic knowledge of filing systems, scheduling tools, or recordkeeping practices.
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or driving patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.
