About The Position

BLUU is searching for a part-time Administrative Coordinator to support office management, communications efforts, and administrative operations. This position reports to the Operations Manager. About BLUU Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism (BLUU) is a spiritual community for Black Unitarian Universalists and for Black people who also have liberatory values. BLUU is committed to expanding the power and capacity of Black UUs within Unitarian Universalism; providing support, information, and resources for Black Unitarian Universalists; and justice-making and liberation for Black people through our faith. BLUU creates transformative experiences for Black people through worship, spiritual care, organizing, youth ministry, and other opportunities for social and spiritual connection. BLUU is Black founded, Black-led and centers Queer Black leadership in all that we do. BLUU’s work puts Blackness at the center of Unitarian Universalism. BLUU gives a spiritual home to Black people who have roots in many traditions but share values that all support Black liberation and self-determination in spiritual communities and beyond. Since BLUU’s inception, BLUU has held in-person convenings, organizing campaigns, and monthly worship. BLUU evolved from an informal gathering of Black UUs in 2015 to a thriving 501c3 organization. For more about BLUU, visit BlackLivesuu.org . Position Type and Compensation This is a part time, nonexempt position, 10 hours a week, with a current hourly pay range of $27-30 based upon experience. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of work experience, and or an applicable degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to skillfully handle multiple assignments, establish priorities and procedures, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong writing and copy editing skills.
  • Experience working with online CRMs, managing databases, websites, and email systems.
  • Proficiency with current office/computer technology and the ability to manage outside vendor relationships to mutually benefit BLUU and the vendors.
  • Ability to independently manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Competent with Google work suites, Microsoft Office product suite, especially Word and Excel.
  • Commitment to BLUU’s principles and our established Working Agreements.

  • Self-motivation and flexibility.
  • Compliance with all operating policies and procedures of BLUU.

  • The candidate must be in or able to commute to the Twin Cities Metro Area (Minnesota) and to the office, bank, between vacant lots which are located in Minneapolis, MN. This is a non-negotiable as this position requires regular mail checking and correspondence on behalf of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Operations Manager on administrative tasks related to HR benefits, maintenance, compliance, and overall organizational efficiency.
  • Monitor and respond to the organizational general email and voicemail boxes.
  • Assist with gift processing by recording, depositing, and acknowledging charitable donations
  • Manage office mail and packages, including receipt, distribution, and adherence to document retention procedures.
  • Coordinate with the accountant to verify organizational transactions promptly.
  • Oversee maintenance of eight vacant lots, including contracting and managing lawn/tree care, towing, debris removal, and city communications.
  • Receive, log, and process incoming donations; prepare and deliver weekly bank deposits.
  • Support event planning by creating invitation links using video conferencing and CRM tools.
  • Send donor communications via customer relationship management (CRM) software (not responsible for drafting the message, only receiving the approved communications from Communications and Executive Director, load the message up and send to the appropriate list)
  • Support staff expense reporting, including monthly debit card reports, check requests, and gathering information for the bookkeeper.
  • Print thank you letters and have the Executive Director sign, then send the letters
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
