About The Position

The Analyst, Health Information Management (HIM) is responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the HIM (Health Information Management) ROI (Release of Information) applications. Specializes in managing the release of medical information using the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system processes and workflows within The Brooklyn Hospital Center healthcare organization. The Epic HIM ROI Coding Abstraction Analyst role is a full time role that will require flexibility of schedules of working hours. Hours may be subject to change to support the application during upgrades and on call.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Computer Systems, or other related field.
  • Experience working on medium to large size projects of 250-500+ hours
  • Experience working in a Healthcare environment
  • EPIC Health Information Management (HIM) / Release of Information (ROI) Application
  • Requires knowledge of the client areas function and systems, technology alternatives, and ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staff.
  • Knowledge of applications security and control procedures in accordance with departmental, vendor standards and regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member across multiple teams
  • Ability to independently research and perform analysis to resolve complex issues
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented and able to manage one’s own work independently in a fast –paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Must be able to maintain professionalism and react to customers appropriately while exhibiting the highest level of customer service
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Work PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrates ability to develop complex specifications for all aspects of applications, and familiarity with problem analysis, hardware/software configurations and application integration
  • Familiar with state-specific laws and regulations regarding health information management. Strong understanding in HIPAA and other regulations related to the release of medical information.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in other EPIC Inpatient / Outpatient  Clinical modules – HIGHLY PREFERRED
