About The Position

Building on its outstanding history of student involvement, the Center for the Performing Arts and Penn State Student Affairs seek an Arts Engagement Coordinator to play a key role in advancing ambitious goals to broaden and deepen student participation in the arts. The Arts Engagement Coordinator will design, implement, and evaluate innovative, participatory engagement initiatives that bring meaningful arts experiences to students in both traditional and non-traditional settings across campus—extending far beyond the walls of the Center for the Performing Arts (CPA).

Requirements

  • Experience in student engagement, event planning, and program implementation—preferably in a higher-education environment
  • Demonstrated budget management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience building collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Knowledge of a broad spectrum of the performing arts, as well as arts education principles and best practices
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted

Responsibilities

  • Identify, lead, and manage arts engagement events across campus that connect students to the arts and strengthen student involvement.
  • Conduct ongoing consultations and needs assessments to understand and respond to student interests and engagement trends.
  • Establish program objectives, develop curriculum and learning goals where appropriate, and design assessment tools to measure outcomes.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, Student Affairs units, student organizations, and other campus partners to bring the arts in settings beyond the typical performance venues.
  • Negotiate contracts.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Student Affairs and represent the CPA on the Student Leadership and Involvement team.
  • Develop and implement marketing and outreach plans that promote programs and services to a wide range of student audiences.
  • Plan, monitor, and manage program budgets.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations, arts leaders, businesses, and campus partners.
  • Advise the Performing Arts Council, an affiliated student organization.
  • Jointly supervise student Arts Engagement Assistants, which may include training and ongoing support.
  • The Arts Engagement Coordinator will be required to occasionally work evenings and weekends in support of arts engagement events and campus initiatives.
