The Assistant Director of Development is an integral member of a Central team or Development Office (DOFF) and is responsible for securing philanthropic support for an assigned area of Johns Hopkins University and Medicine. Under the guidance of department/divisional leadership, the Assistant Director will organize and implement strategies for effective relationships with prospects and donors, interact with constituents at all stages in the development cycle, with a focus on the discovery and qualification of prospects to meet fundraising goals and objectives. The Assistant Director will manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects and donors with a focus. The Assistant Director is incentive eligible if at least 50% of effort is spent on annual gift fundraising. The Assistant Director of Development reports to the Associate Director of Development (DoD) in the School of Medicine and is responsible for expediting the careful coordination, planning, implementation, and follow-up of the units’ top priorities and will provide strategic support to the ADoD and other front-line fundraisers. In addition to the duties described above, the Assistant Director of Development will: Serve as the primary liaison between the School of Medicine development team and the Annual Giving program, ensuring coordinated strategy, messaging, and execution of annual and leadership-level giving efforts. Partner with the Associate Director of Development to advance the School of Medicine's leadership annual giving strategy, with a focus on donor retention, growth, and pipeline development. Maintain accurate reporting, documentation, and tracking of leadership annual giving activity to support pipeline analysis and forecasting. Collaborate with Alumni Relations and Stewardship to develop aligned engagement, cultivation, and recognition opportunities that reinforce donor relationships and long-term philanthropic growth.
