About The Position

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid Services provides administrative leadership and operational oversight for the delivery of financial aid programs and student financial counseling. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, this role supports the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid programs while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and institutional policies. The position exercises independent professional judgment in administering financial aid programs, including reviewing student financial circumstances and applying federal and state regulatory guidance. The Assistant Director interprets institutional policies, recommends procedural improvements, and supports program administration and interdepartmental coordination that advance the institution’s enrollment objectives while maintaining the integrity and compliance of financial aid processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within higher education financial aid.
  • Familiarity with Title IV financial aid awarding and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of various financial aid systems, such as Powerfaids, Jenzabar, COD, NSLDS and PHEAA.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Possesses excellent analytical and complex problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration of financial aid programs for the Traditional On-Campus Undergraduate student population, ensuring accurate awarding and processing in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Leads operational continuity within the Financial Aid Office, supporting daily office functions and assuming responsibility for departmental operations in the absence of the Director.
  • Provides financial aid counseling and guidance to students and families regarding eligibility, funding options, and program requirements while safeguarding confidential financial information.
  • Coordinates collaboration between Financial Aid and Admissions, providing financial aid data, reporting, and analysis to support recruitment strategies and enrollment planning.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures, including institutional awarding strategies and maintenance of the departmental policy manual.
  • Administers designated state and special aid programs, including the Pennsylvania Ready to Succeed (RTSS) Program and the GROW PA Program, ensuring compliance with program requirements and reporting standards.
  • Supports institutional compliance and systems management by monitoring regulatory updates, assisting with federal and state audits and program reviews, and coordinating enhancements to financial aid systems such as PowerFAIDS and Jenzabar.
