About The Position

The New York Philharmonic connects with millions of music lovers each season through live concerts in New York and around the world, as well as broadcasts, recordings, and education programs. After returning to a transformed David Geffen Hall in 2022, the Orchestra is acting on a renewed commitment to building on a legacy of more than 180 years, serving as a platform for today’s greatest musical artists and connecting with our communities. Gustavo Dudamel will become the Philharmonic’s Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music and Artistic Director in the 2026–27 season. The New York Philharmonic is seeking two Production Assistants to support its annual Concerts in the Park summer concert series. This is a full‑time, seasonal position, running from April 20 through June 19, 2026. Production Assistants play a key role in supporting the planning and execution of large‑scale outdoor performances and work closely with the Production Coordinator, Head Production Supervisor, crew, and external partners to ensure smooth and successful events.

Requirements

  • Prior backstage or live event production experience preferred
  • Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions
  • Physically able to lift objects up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
  • A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record are required; this role involves driving in NYC and New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Support production logistics for crew and artists
  • Assist with administrative tasks and production documentation
  • Communicate logistical information with internal teams, vendors, and external agencies in a timely manner
  • Accompany the Production Coordinator on site visits and maintain clear, organized notes
  • Develop and maintain production documents and tour books
  • Order supplies, run errands, and manage petty cash as needed
  • Work collaboratively while managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  • Supervise daily load‑ins and breakdowns at each performance site
  • Manage vendors and on‑site logistics
  • Set up and break down crew hospitality areas
  • Purchase hardware and other supplies as needed
  • Communicate closely with the Head Production Supervisor and production team
  • Oversee backstage hospitality for crew, musicians, and special guests
  • Run errands and provide general production support
  • Coordinate stage crew meals and program distribution
  • Work closely with the Head Production Supervisor and on‑site staff to support performance execution
