About The Position

The Assistant Plant Manager supports the Plant Manager in overseeing daily plant operations and ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. This role provides leadership to plant personnel while coordinating production activities, monitoring operational performance, and supporting continuous improvement across the facility. This role helps oversee a team of approximately 16 employees across all shifts. Plant operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Excellent growth/advancement opportunities available!

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, processing, or plant operations
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop operational teams
  • Strong understanding of production operations and process flow
  • Experience improving operational efficiency and monitoring production metrics
  • Mechanically inclined w/ the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic maintenance and repairs using hand and specialized tools
  • Comfortable stepping in to support troubleshooting and maintenance needs to keep operations running efficiently
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of safety, regulatory, or food processing standards preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and directing day-to-day plant operations
  • Coordinate production activities including processing, drying, and maintenance
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure loads are processed efficiently
  • Communicate regularly with dispatch, production, and sales teams to coordinate plant activities
  • Support operational troubleshooting and resolve issues that may impact production
  • Supervise shift supervisors and plant personnel
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and training of employees
  • Mentor team members and support professional development
  • Participate in employee performance management and disciplinary processes when necessary
  • Foster a positive and safety-focused work environment
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and food safety programs
  • Support implementation and maintenance of cGMP and feed safety protocols
  • Conduct safety inspections and support corrective actions when necessary
  • Partner with Environmental Health & Safety teams to maintain regulatory compliance
  • Monitor production metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Support implementation of process improvements and operational best practices
  • Maintain operational documentation and ensure accuracy of production records
  • Assist in managing plant inventory, materials, and equipment readiness
