About The Position

The Assistant Pool Manager is responsible for the effective management of the Lancaster County Swimming Pool in the absence of the Pool Manager. this includes the safety and well being of patrons while visiting the pool and supervision of all employees of the pool. This professional position requires excellent administrative, communication and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must provide PA Child Abuse History, PA State Police and FBI background clearances
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Ability to supervise staff of various ages
  • Accurate record-keeping
  • Ability to maintain focus and alertness while on duty
  • Ability to exercise discipline and initiative in planning, organizing and implementing assigned work.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and to speak before large groups
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications preferred but not required
  • AFO or CPO Certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of all swimming pool staff
  • Ensuring that all PA Department of Health and Lancaster County Safety Guidelines are followed at all times
  • Maintaining a good, working relationship with the public regarding: complaints, suggestions, policy and discipline.
  • Documenting employee discipline issues as outlined in the County Employee Manual
  • Assisting in the completion of mid-season performance evaluations for Lifeguard and Front Desk managers
  • Executing all Emergency Action Plans
  • Keeps accurate, orderly and accessible records as required by the County and PA Departments of Health and Agriculture.
  • Has a working and functional knowledge of all safety, rescue and first aid equipment and the location of each item
  • Enforces facility rules and regulations
  • Has a working knowledge of all mechanical operations and pool maintenance procedures. Contact proper staff as requirements go beyond knowledge/ability.
  • Exercises mature judgement at all times
  • Completes daily safety checklists and reports
  • Attends weekly management team meetings
  • Assists with keeping the facility clean
  • Regularly works weekends and holidays
  • Ensures that payroll procedures are followed and timecards are signed and turned in on time
  • Assists with planning and implementing special events
  • Makes budget and staff recommendations for the following year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
