About The Position

The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is seeking qualified applicants for full-time, non-tenure stream faculty in the Department of Health Promotion and Development. Duties and Responsibilities: This Appointment-Stream Assistant Professor will be a full-time faculty member in the Health, Promotion, and Development Department in the School of Nursing, who will be responsible for teaching, clinical instruction, scholarship, and service. Responsibilities will include teaching and mentoring students in both the classroom and clinical setting, contribute to course development and delivery, and supports student learning, professional development, and readiness for practice. Expectations also include active and sustained engagement in scholarship, clinical innovation, and dissemination through publications and presentations. The faculty member will also participate in service activities that support the School, University, profession, and community, contributing to committees, professional organizations, clinical partnerships, and community-based initiatives in alignment with the mission of the institution. Faculty promotion opportunities are available for all ranks. Qualifications for these appointment stream faculty positions include an earned doctorate (PhD) and eligibility for RN licensure in Pennsylvania or a compact state. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate (PhD) in nursing is required
  • Demonstrated expertise in the indicated areas of pediatrics and maternal-child health
  • Certification as an Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or eligibility to sit for a board exam
  • Evidence of excellence in clinical practice and potential for excellence in classroom teaching and mentoring and contributing to a learning environment that values evidence-based practice
  • Evidence of potential to produce scholarly work
  • Eligibility for RN licensure in Pennsylvania or a compact state
