About The Position

Related Midwest, through its vertically integrated general contracting entity, LR Contracting, is seeking a motivated construction professional to support project management and coordination on large, complex projects or portfolios of smaller projects, including new construction as well as rehabilitation and preservation work. This role is designed to develop foundational knowledge of the construction process, including pre-development coordination, planning, estimating support, scheduling, logistics, cost tracking, financial reporting, contract administration, and construction operations. The Assistant Project Manager will contribute to the successful execution of projects under the guidance of senior project leadership. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, field operations, preconstruction staff, consultants, and other stakeholders while fostering a respectful, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a similar construction-related field.
  • 0–3 years of general construction experience required; familiarity with construction processes and project delivery preferred.
  • Demonstrated professional judgment, maturity, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and construction project management or scheduling software (e.g., Prolog, PlanGrid, Autodesk).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supporting construction projects from pre-development through closeout under the guidance of senior project leadership.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and logistics to help ensure projects progress safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Assist in preconstruction activities, including quantity take-offs, bid coordination, and subcontractor proposal review.
  • Help coordinate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and change order requests.
  • Support tracking of project costs, commitments, budget performance, and assist with financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to facilitate project execution and escalate routine issues as needed.
  • Assist with regulatory coordination, permitting, project closeout, and compliance with local business, workforce development, and community hiring requirements.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and respectful team culture while developing professional knowledge of construction processes.
