Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist to work within the Wadsworth Center’s New York’s Newborn Screening Program, which is a partner in the federally funded “ScreenPlus” project. ScreenPlus (https://www.einsteinmed.edu/research/screenplus/screening/) is an internationally recognized, comprehensive, flexible, consented multi-disorder newborn screening program. This pilot study will screen for diseases that are being evaluated and may be added to the federally recommended uniform screening panel (RUSP). In this Assistant Research Scientist position, the incumbent will join a team that includes physicians, scientists, an ethicist, and others who are experts in the field of newborn screening. The incumbent will play an active support role in preparing pilot study samples for testing, which uses state-of-the-art liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry methods to screen for multiple conditions. The incumbent will also support each step of the screening workflow: mail opening, sample retrieval, filter card punching, operating tandem mass spectrometry instruments, data analysis, and reporting. Additionally, the incumbent will communicate with participating Pilot study hospital coordinators and sponsors throughout New York State to ensure study compliance.
