About The Position

NOTE: This position is located at Nordstrom's downtown Seattle headquarters and follows a hybrid work model, with four days in the office and one remote workday each week. We don’t just sell cutting‑edge fashion and accessories — we create them. Our talented fashion design team, the Nordstrom Product Group (NPG), develops, designs, produces, and sources all Nordstrom‑brand products. From traditional to trendy, this team shapes the styles and looks our customers love. And now, we have an exciting opportunity to join this team. As an Assistant Technical Designer at Nordstrom, you will assist the Technical Design team in the creation of Nordstrom Brand product within your assigned categories, ensuring product meets design and fit intent, and align with the Brand DNA. Everything we do revolves around creating products that make our customers feel good and look their best. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Design, Apparel Manufacturing, Pattern Making or equivalent industry experience
  • 1+ year of experience in Technical Design, preferably within apparel.
  • Organization and time management skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including clear, effective written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) and proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management Software, preferred
  • Exposure to 3D apparel development preferred (Browzwear, CLO, Optitex) and exposure to 2D pattern software preferred (Gerber Accumark, Optitex)

Responsibilities

  • Assist Technical Design Team to develop clear, concise tech packs to include measurement worksheet and construction images to align with design intent and Brand DNA
  • Assist in evaluating samples to ensure product specifications, quality and construction standards are executed
  • Measure samples, support Technical Design Team and participate in fit sessions as needed
  • Support Technical Design Team to meet calendar milestones and due dates
  • Support internal teams to maintain sample organization throughout development and production lifecycle
  • Assist in special projects as directed
