About The Position

Verrill is actively reviewing resumes for an Assistant Trust Officer in our Portland, Maine office. This full-time, non-exempt position provides comprehensive client service, administrative, and operational support to the Private Clients & Fiduciary Services Group in the management of trusts and estates. The role involves initiating trust distributions and processing bill and tax payments via wire, ACH, or check; preparing, reviewing, and distributing monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, invoices, and billings; invoicing quarterly trustee fees; processing Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust insurance premium payments; issuing Crummey notices; electronically filing documents, statements, and tax returns; and preparing accountings for both estates and trusts. The position also includes serving as a key point of contact for clients, trustees, beneficiaries, accountants, investment advisers, and managers. The successful candidate will be able to respond promptly and professionally while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in trust and estate administration. While prior experience is preferred, applications from entry-level candidates who possess a strong foundational background and a willingness to learn are welcome. The model candidate has a firm understanding of accepted trust and estate administration processes, timelines, and concepts, while providing exceptional client service and team support. The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and advanced computer skills including proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel) and accounting systems.
