Associate Director - Information Technology Services (ITS)

About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Assists Departmental Director in all aspects of Southern Union Conference ITS operations with special emphasis on the Union’s datacenter and core infrastructure. Manages the enterprise server systems, virtualization platforms, storage, and backup systems. Provides senior-level technical leadership and assists with infrastructure security, system upgrades, and disaster recovery planning. Provides technical support and assistance to member conferences and institutions, as needed. Manages ITS personnel in the absence of Director, or as requested. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages and maintains the Union’s servers, virtualization, storage, and datacenter infrastructure. Plans, implements, and maintains server operating systems, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. Oversee backup systems and ensure disaster recovery and business continuity readiness. Assists with maintaining system security, patching, and infrastructure hardening. Manages the implementation and maintenance of infrastructure security controls. Coordinates with vendors and contracted service providers related to infrastructure systems. Assists with maintaining data integrity, system availability, and performance. Coordinates with Director in planning and implementing the overall strategy of the ITS department. Assists with technology planning and infrastructure strategy initiatives. Accompany director in visiting and assisting the conferences/institutions. Manages ITS personnel in the absence of the director, or as requested. Other duties as assigned by the director.

Requirements

BS/AS degree in Information Systems Management or related field.
Minimum of five years’ experience managing systems operations, datacenters and infrastructure environments.
Experience with enterprise servers, virtualization, storage, and backup solutions.
Working knowledge of infrastructure security best practices.
Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Hyper-V.
IT Certifications include, but not limited to: MSCE, MCSA, MCTS, Network+, Security+.
Five years’ SDA organizational experience managing an IT department.
Knowledge of principles, policies, and beliefs of the Southern Union Conference and Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Knowledge of church structure and organization, including committee procedures, etc.
Knowledge and skills in appropriate methods of dealing with human behavior in various circumstances.
Advanced command of language skills, including proficiency in verbal and written form.
Ability in strategic planning, leadership and organization.
Ability to develop long-and short-term plans and programs; and to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal/external personnel.
Must possess advanced ability to effectively present facts and recommendations in oral and written form.
Contact with church leaders, outside organizations, and lay people, as well as Southern Union personnel at all levels.
Must possess advanced interpersonal skills and project a professional Christian image.
Must be able to read, speak, and hear in the English language.
Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Some standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying infrastructure items, etc. are required.
Must be able to travel extensively in all parts of the Southern Union territory under varying conditions.
