To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What You’ll Be Doing We are seeking an experienced Equity Derivatives Trader to join our US Equity Derivatives Team. This is a client-facing market making role, responsible for providing liquidity, pricing, and risk management in US-listed single stock options. The successful candidate will have 2–7 years of relevant sell side experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and a client service mindset. How You’ll Succeed Market Making: Provide continuous, competitive two-way pricing in US single stock options for institutional. Client Coverage: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, responding to inquiries and facilitating complex options trades. Risk Management: Manage and hedge the desk’s risk exposures in real time, optimizing risk-adjusted returns within established limits. Trade Execution: Execute trades efficiently, ensuring best execution and adherence to regulatory and internal guidelines. Collaboration: Work closely with sales, structuring, research, and technology teams to deliver tailored solutions and market insights to clients. Product Knowledge: Stay current on market trends, regulatory developments, and product innovations in the US equity derivatives space. P&L Accountability: Monitor and report daily P&L, risk metrics, and position exposures to desk management. Compliance: Ensure all trading activity is in full compliance with relevant regulations and internal risk controls. Who You Are Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. 2–7 years of sell side experience trading US single stock options, ideally in a market making or client-facing role. In-depth knowledge of options pricing models, volatility surfaces, and risk management. Strong client relationship management and communication skills. Proficiency with electronic trading platforms and analytical tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Excel, Python; familiarity with market making technology is a plus). Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. This role has an expected salary range of $150,000-$225,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
