About The Position

The Asia Group (TAG) is accepting applications for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our Australia-focused practice in Washington, DC. TAG’s Australia practice seeks a highly motivated DC-based Associate or Senior Associate to support clients – ranging from Fortune 100 multinationals to innovative startups – for success in established and emerging markets across the Indo-Pacific region. Our team is a diverse mix of partners, senior advisors, and talent with extensive backgrounds in government, the private sector, and the military.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field such as international relations, political science, or economics.
  • Significant professional experience in Australian and/or Indo-Pacific economic and political issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian politics, policy, and regulatory environment and Australia’s relationships in the Indo-Pacific and with the United States.
  • Outstanding research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail, motivation, and ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • For Senior Associate, experience in client servicing, project management, and/or business development;
  • Team player with positive and professional attitude, eager for professional development, and open to learning.
  • Can-do attitude and willingness to support critical client matters and internal tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and integrate public policy with corporate strategy, including use of tech tools for efficiency.
  • Flexibility with respect to working and communication hours, particularly when coordinating with clients and team members in Australia and other TAG offices in the region.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and are expected to work in-person at the TAG DC office five days per week.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working in close proximity to dogs as part of our standard in-person work setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or professional degree and 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Network of pertinent relationships in Australia or the region.
  • Experience in government relations or comparable experience.
  • Ideal candidates will be comfortable using artificial intelligence tools — or excited to learn how — to increase efficiency, enhance analysis or deliverables, and generate innovative solutions. Familiarity with generative AI platforms or a growth mindset toward emerging technologies is a plus.
