Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a Registrar’s Office or related academic services unit.
  • Supervisory experience, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
  • Proven ability to lead high‑stakes, fast‑moving, and high‑visibility functions that require strong attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment.
  • Significant experience interpreting federal and state regulations and implementing successful programs and processes to ensure compliance.
  • Experience identifying compliance risks and implementing policies or processes to mitigate associated risks.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality customer service and ability to inspire trust of others.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; establish, motivate, and lead effective teams; manage conflict and change.
  • Proven expertise in the ability to think critically and creatively, act with strategic agility, deal with ambiguity, evaluate and resolve problems, and formulate strategies to deliver results on long- and short-term goals.
  • Ability to recognize challenges, problem solve, and introduce innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to implement policies and manage operations in a large, complex environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Compliance Serve as a member of the Registrar's Office leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, policy development, and service delivery improvements.
  • Supervise and lead a team of managers and administrative staff across functional areas within the Office of the Registrar, fostering professional growth through coaching, mentoring, and staff development initiative.
  • Collaborate with Assistant Registrars and Office of the Registrar leadership team to manage caseload distribution and work assignments.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies.
  • Develop and implement tools to identify compliance risks, develop mitigation strategies, and plans for peak periods.
  • Liaise with auditors, accrediting agencies, and regulatory bodies, including, but not limited to agencies such as the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Texas Veterans Commission (TVC), and the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Education.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and collaborate with Information Technology and campus stakeholders to enhance data integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Lead efforts with campus partners to ensure resolution of student issues and implementation of process changes to increase effectiveness and student success.
  • Oversee multiple critical functional areas within the Office of the Registrar, depending on office needs.
  • Regularly monitor federal, state, and institutional legislation to ensure compliance and proactively work with leadership to adjust office policies and procedures.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to support institutional decision-making and accreditation efforts.
  • Institutional Collaboration Ensure oversight and management of Office of the Registrar student-facing services.
  • Collaborate with campus partners and colleges/schools to ensure seamless integration of student support and academic progression.
  • Lead and collaborate with colleges/schools and campus partners to create and implement programs that support students.
  • Develop academic advising partnerships to support students' educational progression.
  • Represent the university on committees and task forces as requested.
  • Partner with campus offices to plan and create events, workshops, programming, and orientation events tailored to students that reinforce enrollment, retention, and graduation.
  • Advise and support students on complex policies, eligibility requirements, and institutional or state regulations related to academic records and enrollment services.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate programs and services that enhance the student experience and support key operational areas within the Registrar’s Office.
  • Serve as an advocate for students and campus partners by providing guidance, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring consistent application of policies across the institution.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for inquiries within the assigned areas of responsibility, offering proactive support and referrals to appropriate campus resources.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource and advocate for students, faculty, and staff regarding academic policies and procedures within the assigned Office of the Registrar functional area.
  • Process Improvement Collaborate with Registrar leadership, IT partners, and campus stakeholders to streamline processes and implement new technologies.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new technology, operating procedures and policies pertaining to the office's technologies with an emphasis on maintaining and ensuring operation continuity and security.
  • Lead or participate in projects to enhance service delivery, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
  • Document business processes and contribute to business continuity planning.
  • Support the development and implementation of academic policies and procedures.
  • Work with Registrar leadership to conduct needs assessments related to academic policies, processes, and student services to identify emerging issues and work with University leadership and campus partners to implement appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure that students and campus partners are informed about relevant University resources, policies, and the impact of new or existing institutional, state, or federal regulations.
  • Represent the Office of the Registrar at campus programming events and delivering presentations as needed.
