About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Scientist II/Senior Associate Scientist to join the Biology group and advance our core mission of accelerating small molecule drug discovery programs at Iambic Therapeutics. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of supporting in vitro cell-based assays to advance pre-clinical projects. The candidate will work closely with a cross-functional team that integrates machine learning, medicinal chemistry, analytical technology and biology to revolutionize small-molecule therapeutics design and discovery. This role is based at our San Diego headquarters.

Requirements

  • Associate Scientist II - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biochemistry, pharmacology, cell biology, or other related scientific areas with a minimum of 2- years of industry experience
  • Senior Associate Scientist -Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biochemistry, pharmacology, cell biology, or other related scientific areas with a minimum of 5-8 years of industry experience
  • Hands-on experience in cell biology and routine biological assays, including techniques such as cell culture, cell proliferation assays, cytotoxicity assays, ELISA, and Western blot,
  • Demonstrated scientific rigor with proven ability to critically evaluate data, and think independently and creatively in developing and testing new scientific hypotheses
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills is required
  • Highly motivated to work in a cross-functional team setting
  • Flexibility and ability to quickly learn new skills and knowledge on the job

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with proximity-based assays is highly desirable (e.g., HTRF, NanoBRET, AlphaLISA)
  • Familiarity with HTS screening methodology is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Biology group and project teams to design, develop, and optimize biochemical and cell-based assays supporting multiple drug discovery programs
  • Independently execute biochemical and/or cell-based assays on a weekly basis to screen and evaluate small-molecule compounds
  • Coordinate with Biology, Chemistry, and Compound Management teams to enable efficient compound screening across pipeline projects
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and ensure scientific rigor and data quality
  • Present experimental results and project updates at team meetings
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to QC and upload experimental data in a timely manner
  • Maintain and manage cell lines to support ongoing research projects
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the biology laboratory
