This position will largely provide audio visual service in learning spaces and the research environment on the West, East, South, Southampton, and Research & Innovation campuses, in addition to assisting in coordinating audio visual event support for the research community, documenting their systems, and supporting their initiatives through technology. Provides faculty and staff audio visual, computer presentation and device connectivity support. Provides assistance to presenters, schedules, troubleshoots and operates digital media systems. Evaluates instructor’s needs, and provides required support. Integrates user’s media and equipment (laptops tablets etc.) with presentation systems. Troubleshoots problems with computers, presentation systems and production systems. Help to extend the lifecycle of technology and learning space furniture by adhering to maintenance and reporting standards. The selected candidate will be responsible for: Primary Presentation Support: ● In-building support office: Instruct, train and assist users with control systems, media systems and other equipment. Prepare the building and facilities for daily instructional activities. Site and correct daily issues such as system anomalies, consumable supply levels, and technology integrated furniture. Schedule appropriate media equipment and facilities to support instruction and University programs. Test, and provide routine maintenance for, installed classroom systems. Consult with users and organize training events to ensure the most effective use of media, equipment, and AV Systems. Show "Best Practices" for AV systems. Setup and operate portable presentation systems, display panels, and group sound systems. ● In the performance of all job duties, at all times be responsible for delivering optimal customer service, for protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes Learning Space & operational projects: ● Collect data on learning spaces. Create spreadsheets, reports and comparisons. Solicit surveys, and work with assessment specialists to analyze and present data. Work collaboratively across DoIT on organizational projects that improve learning spaces and/or classroom support services. Engage in the learning space community. Participate in learning space field projects such as updating signage, collecting documentation for help guides, or creating instructional resources for web consumption. Provide expertise on the user experience in learning spaces. Use Design Thinking model to engage stakeholders, ideate, prototype, and test new space ideas. Act as a participating member for DoIT-wide teaching, learning, and research initiatives that involve the learning space or research environment - physical or virtual. Present in workshops and events as assigned. Supervision of assistants: ● Schedule student employees for support office and learning space support. Assist in the mentoring and guiding of students assistants through internal training and development plans, and aid in their growth as a contributing segment of the workforce. Assess quality of customer service provided by student staff, improving standards as necessary Non-essential duties: ● Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission. Maintain a clean, organized workspace. Occasional evening and weekend days will be required for special events.
