About The Position

The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for providing AV support for all programs, events, and meetings in addition to assisting with all elements of classroom set up. The AV tech is also responsible for collaborating on equipment needs and training end users on how to operate AV equipment properly and safely.

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience operating audio-visual equipment for live events to include lectures, concerts and special programming.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience running and maintaining audio visual equipment, including concert set-up, recording, and multi-media set-up
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends is essential, as is the flexibility to adjust schedule according to the needs of the events.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds at a time independently or with assistance on an occasional basis
  • Ability to stand up for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use fine motor skills ability to adapt to changes in temperature due to changing weather conditions
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, crouch, walk, kneel, push, pull and twist repeatedly
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to noise from general environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with livestreamed events and web-based meeting platforms helpful but not required
  • Knowledge of Livestreaming Software Programs. OBS, WireCast, Vmix, etc. helpful but not required.
  • Proficient with PC/Mac systems, Microsoft Office (including Excel), and presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote), with understanding of projection and display resolutions
  • Knowledge of live audio reinforcement, audio and video recording, and post-production.

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup, testing, operation, and breakdown of AV systems for live concerts, special events, meetings, and all on-site programs.
  • Install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot AV equipment, including cameras, microphones, speakers, displays, projectors, televisions, and computers.
  • Provide AV systems training to presenters, faculty, and assistants.
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying, addressing, and resolving presenter and AV needs in real time.
  • Provide technical support with the setup, operation, and production of recorded programs, including Livestreams, Kripalu Online Studio (KOS) classes, marketing shoots, and internal hybrid meetings.
  • Maintain professional, clear, and timely communication with colleagues, presenters, faculty, and staff using all established communication channels to ensure smooth program delivery.
  • Contribute to ongoing workflow refinement and process improvements in collaboration with AV and Production teams.
  • Assist with inventory management and the upkeep of the AV shop.
  • Work collaboratively and pro-actively with Production to support program execution and room readiness, assisting with program room setups (i.e. yoga props, seating)
  • Support training with Production on basic AV needs (PowerPoint, mics, etc.)
  • Perform special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned, including providing shift coverage and supporting cross-departmental needs.
