Requirements

Master’s Degree in Audiology.
Meet licensure requirements for Montana.
Communication: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or a willingness to reach target proficiency levels to foster cooperative relationships with students and staff.
Leadership: Ability to handle controversy objectively, manage a diverse team, and maintain effective relationships with families and stakeholders.
Technical: Understanding of basic employment law, ADA implications, and child development/counseling procedures.

Nice To Haves

Doctorate in Audiology.
Specific experience working with students and staff who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or deafblind.

Responsibilities

Provides clinical audiological services including diagnostic testing, hearing aid programming and maintenance, FM/personal microphone fitting, and cochlear implant mapping to the students enrolled at MSDB.
Provides audiological services to outpatient children, birth to 21 years who are referred to the clinic. These referrals come from physicians, speech pathologists, school districts, other professionals and parents of children who live in Montana.
Must be able to work independently and be comfortable evaluating children of all ages with a variety of special needs and multiple-handicapping conditions; including speech and language delay, cognitive delay, autism, physical disabilities, medical concerns, etc.
Makes appropriate recommendations supported by audiological evaluation to parents, education agencies, medical teams, etc.
Prepare audiological reports and present results and recommendations for Family Service Plans, Individualized Education Plans and 504 plans for students and outpatients.
Responsible for managing patient referrals, clinic scheduling, and patient report filing.
Serves as a consultant to Outreach staff and the families they serve.
Works with school/cottage staff to develop an understanding of hearing loss, hearing health, and amplification for students by providing in-services for staff.
Provide audiological trainings and professional development to Great Falls Public Schools as needed.
Community outreach is encouraged, you may be asked to participate in community developmental hearing screenings.
