The A/V Technical Services Manager advances DZCA’s mission and goals by overseeing all aspects of A/V technology across the zoo campus, combining hands-on expertise with team management and system development. This role directs staff and contractors to manage system integration, technical strategy, and budget, ensuring reliable, high-quality A/V support for events, seasonal enhancements, digital signage, and campus-wide audio and video. Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year degree in technical theatre, sound design/engineering, audio/visual, or a related field is preferred; however, any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the position will be considered.
  • Requires a minimum of two years of experience in audiovisual technology management, system integration, and technical services, including supervisory experience.
  • Proven computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, are required.
  • Requires collaboration, organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work and tasks.
  • Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-task, and changing environment, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be an outstanding communicator and considered to be a developer of people who is comfortable motivating, collaborating, and working with a broad cross-section of people in direct and matrixed relationships.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination, background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • To support our operations, candidates must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • The role requires obtaining IBCCES certification within the first six months of employment.
  • Candidates must obtain QSYS Level 1 certification within the first six months and QSYS Level 2 certification within the first year, with the organization providing support.
  • Schedule Availability: 5-day non-traditional work week (including Saturday and Sunday) with regular availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, time off planned with notice.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a high-volume attraction such as an amusement park, zoo, aquarium, museum, or science center is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of professional experience, lived experience, and/or special skills that demonstrate the ability to successfully perform the role will also be considered.
  • Experience with scheduling and incident reporting platforms is preferred.
  • Proven skills with AV control systems is preferred.
  • Good negotiation skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with diplomacy are preferred.
