About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) professional to support curriculum development for our Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS) at Hillsboro Aero Academy (HAA). This is a short-term/temporary position (estimated 2 months) focused on developing high-quality instructional content to support our FAA Part 147 approved program. The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Manager and instructional team to create structured course materials, including PowerPoint presentations, lesson content, instructional resources, and supporting documentation aligned with FAA regulations and program learning objectives. This role requires strong technical knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to translate aviation maintenance expertise into clear, engaging instructional content. This position supports our expanding aviation maintenance training program and plays a key role in strengthening the academic foundation of our curriculum.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations and Part 147 compliance requirements.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, presentations, or training materials.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into clear instructional content.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint and Word).
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous instructional or teaching experience in a Part 147 school or technical training program.
  • Experience in curriculum development or instructional design.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance, Education, or related field.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and modern educational technologies.
  • Experience developing content aligned to competency-based education models.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structured instructional materials for General, Airframe, and Powerplant courses in alignment with FAA Part 147 requirements.
  • Create professional, comprehensive PowerPoint presentations to support classroom and lab instruction.
  • Draft lesson plans, instructional outlines, and supporting teaching materials.
  • Ensure all curriculum materials align with FAA regulations, required competencies, and program learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with instructors to ensure technical accuracy and instructional consistency.
  • Update and refine existing course materials to improve clarity, organization, and educational effectiveness.
  • Assist in organizing curriculum content to ensure logical sequencing and alignment with required contact hours.
  • Incorporate best practices in adult learning and technical education.
  • Provide recommendations for instructional tools, visual aids, and supplemental learning resources.
  • Meet agreed-upon project milestones and deliverables within established timelines.
  • Additional duties as assigned related to curriculum development.
