About The Position

Under general direction, supports the Senior Aviation Security Manager by proactively managing all areas of the airport security compliance program. Liaison with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), airport leadership, air carrier station managers and stakeholders to share information regarding security policies, vulnerabilities, and issues. Updates and maintains the Airport Security Program (ASP) and other security policies and documents.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in airport management, aviation security, or airport operations.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Department of Homeland Security, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above on a year-for-year basis.
  • Citizenship of the United States of America.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Has not been convicted of a Class “B” misdemeanor within the last ten years or any offense greater than a Class “B”.
  • Knowledge of airport operations or security related issues.
  • Ability to interpret federal security regulations.
  • Ability to speak read and write English proficiently.
  • Ability to high visibility security project.
  • Ability to use a computer and associated programs.
  • Ability to receive and process information of a sensitive or confidential nature with discretion, tact and diplomacy.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) plus years of supervisory experience working at a Category X or I Airport in airport management, operations, or security that performed one or more of the following duties: maintained a compliance program (Airport Security Program, Airport Certified Manual), and performed compliance inspections/audits of airport facilities or property for regulatory purposes.
  • Experience working with federal agencies (i.e., TSA, FAA, CBP, CISA, FBI, etc.).
  • Two (2) years of experience creating and facilitating adult learning and developing training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and maintain the ASP, prepares amendments for approval, and develops security measures for new regulatory security requirements.
  • Reviews with frequency, all current security-related measures and procedures are compliant with the ASP, National Amendments, Security Directives, and Threat Levels.
  • Reviews, reports, and informs leadership of security violations and incidents; reviews, investigates, and proactively resolves security issues.
  • Provides timely responses and solutions to security findings identified by TSA.
  • Hires, trains, counsels, disciplines, evaluates performance of staff, monitors attendance, and ensures compliance with Board and Department policies, state and federal laws.
  • Plans, develops, and leads security exercises to meet annual federal security requirements (i.e., AVSEC tabletop exercise).
  • Creates policies and assigns daily workplan assignments to staff.
  • Develops, implements, and leads training programs for AVSEC by creating instructional content and provide materials, skills building and role-playing exercises, case studies, handouts, and other materials relevant to individual training needs.
  • Manages security projects, to include researching new security technologies to deploy.
  • Performs industry/stakeholder engagement activities designed to elevate the airport security posture through Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Vulnerability/Threat information sharing.
  • Conducts presentations to and influences executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Performs other assigned duties by DPS leadership.
