About The Position

The Avionics Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and inspecting aircraft electrical and avionics systems in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer data, and company-approved maintenance manuals. This role operates on the hangar floor and supports both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events to ensure aircraft safety, reliability, and dispatch readiness. The Avionics Technician plays a critical role in maintaining operational integrity of navigation, communication, autopilot, flight guidance, and cabin systems across the fleet.

Requirements

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate preferred (not required if strong avionics background).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of avionics experience on turbine aircraft.
  • Strong understanding of digital avionics systems, EFIS, FMS, autopilot, and integrated flight decks.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and aircraft schematics.
  • Proficient in avionics troubleshooting and system integration.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Learjet aircraft (Lear 60, 55, 35 preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair avionics discrepancies using approved technical data.
  • Perform operational checks and functional testing of navigation, communication, autopilot, radar, transponder, TCAS, CVR/FDR, and flight management systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical wiring, data buses, and system integration issues.
  • Utilize appropriate test equipment (multimeters, pitot-static test sets, ramp testers, etc.).
  • Support scheduled inspections involving avionics systems.
  • Perform modifications, upgrades, and Service Bulletin compliance.
  • Assist with aircraft AOG troubleshooting and recovery.
  • Coordinate avionics-related repairs during heavy maintenance events.
  • Ensure all maintenance is performed in accordance with: 14 CFR Parts 43, 65, 91, 135 and 145 Company General Operations Manual (GOM) Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) and wiring diagrams
  • Complete accurate and thorough logbook entries and work order documentation.
  • Verify proper parts traceability and certifications (8130-3).
  • Install avionics components, wiring harnesses, and associated hardware.
  • Fabricate wiring and terminations in accordance with approved standards.
  • Perform system configuration and post-installation operational checks.
  • Assist with STC installations and aircraft upgrades.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Follow proper wire routing, shielding, bonding, and securement practices.
  • Support inspection activities by coordinating with Quality Control personnel.
  • Promote a safety-first and compliance-driven culture on the hangar floor.
  • Assist in maintaining avionics tooling and test equipment calibration compliance.
  • Stay current on manufacturer service publications and software revisions.
  • Support aircraft interior connectivity systems (Wi-Fi, cabin management systems, as applicable).
  • Provide technical input for reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Travel for AOG support as required.
