About The Position

The Behavior Climate Specialist supports the implementation of schoolwide behavior systems that promote a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment. This role focuses on strengthening Tier 1 and Tier 2 behavior supports, coaching students on behavior expectations and self-regulation, and reinforcing consistent culture systems across classrooms and common spaces. Working closely with the School Leader and Assistant School Leader, the Behavior Climate Specialist partners with teachers and student support staff to address behavioral challenges, increase time in class, and help students develop the skills necessary to succeed academically and socially.

Requirements

  • Strong relationship-building skills with students and families.
  • Ability to de-escalate challenging situations and support student regulation.
  • Ability to analyze behavior data and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to maintain calm and professionalism in high-stress situations.
  • Behavior intervention strategies and trauma-informed practices.
  • MTSS, PBIS, restorative practices, or SEL frameworks.
  • Classroom management and student behavior support strategies.
  • Working effectively with students experiencing behavioral challenges.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, or special education
  • 2+ years of classroom teaching experience
  • Experience supporting students with behavioral or social-emotional needs
  • Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and trauma-informed practices
  • Experience implementing MTSS, PBIS, restorative practices, or SEL frameworks
  • Ability to design and monitor behavior intervention plans

Nice To Haves

  • Background in special education or student support services
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or de-escalation training
  • Experience working in high-performing K–12 school environments
  • State certification in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong and visible presence throughout the school day to reinforce behavior expectations.
  • Support consistent implementation of schoolwide culture systems.
  • Monitor hallways, transitions, and common spaces to ensure a safe and structured learning environment.
  • Reinforce positive student behavior and character development aligned to school values.
  • Provide targeted behavioral coaching to students requiring additional support.
  • Support students in reflecting on behavioral choices and developing strategies to improve behavior.
  • Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans aligned to MTSS structures.
  • Support students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) to ensure behavioral reflection and academic engagement.
  • Monitor and analyze behavior data to identify patterns and inform interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of student behavior incidents, interventions, and family communication.
  • Partner with school leadership to ensure consistent implementation of behavior systems.
  • Partner with teachers to reinforce behavior expectations and provide strategies for supporting students.
  • Collaborate with counselors, Special Education teams, and leadership to coordinate supports.
  • Communicate with families regarding student behavior and progress when appropriate.
  • Participate in MTSS or student support team meetings
