We are dedicated to care of the hearts and minds of our patients with compassion and superior quality behavioral healthcare services through our full-immersion Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program for children and adolescents ages 10 - 18 who struggle with emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges. Website: https://www.Midwest-Center.com Position Summary: The Behavioral Response Specialist (BRS) is a unit leader in providing de-escalation and support strategies to avoid physical interventions and promote optimal milieu management. The BRS provides emergency reponse in high risk/escalating events with the use of crisis intervention training to maintain safety and security of the unit(s). The BRS assists with unit programming/activities to faciliate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, and activities of daily living. The BRS assists the House Supervisor with oversight of the unit and staff each shift.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Prefer one year of experience working in a psychiatric setting with patients aged 10 -18yrs.
  • Must be 21 years old

Responsibilities

  • Servies as the unit leader & role model for direct care staff on assigned unit(s)
  • Confirms active precautions &/or orders for patients with charge nurse(s) at beginning of shift & throughout
  • Coordinates care giver responsibilities to assure overall quality of care for patients
  • Implements clinical program, monitor, and evaluate DBT skills coaching to aid relationships between milieu staff & Therapist(s)
  • Ensures behavior plan & interventions is based on the patient's plan of care
  • Communicate, problem-solve, & use service recovery with patients & their families
  • Responds to all codes & assist staff as needed
  • Participant in team meetings & resident council. Collaborate with therapist, physician, charge nurse(s) to ensure patients receive quality care
  • Plan, organize, complete paperwork & secure resources for unit outings & innings
