The Leased Housing Department Inspection Unit is seeking for a Housing Assistant (Bilingual - Spanish) to conduct Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) inspections. The Unit is responsible for inspecting all subsidized units in the Section 8 program to ensure they are maintained in accordance with HUD’s inspection standards. Reporting directly to the Leased Housing Department's Inspections Unit Manager and under general supervision the successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: 1. Conduct annual and biannual inspections at privately owned Housing Choice Voucher program participant properties using various test equipment and handheld computer devices. 2. Conduct Rental, transfer and special inspections at privately owned Housing Choice Voucher program participant properties. 3. Conduct project-based inspections at Housing Choice Voucher program participant properties. 4. Interact with program participants, landlords, and advocates. 5. Perform other tasks as needed to support Inspection units. 6. Work with applicants, landlords and tenants with a limited or no facility in English, as well as with English speaking applicants, landlords and tenants, speaking to them in the appropriate language, perform related work. Note: This position requires a candidate fluent in Spanish. Candidates must pass an oral proficiency test.
