About The Position

Come join John W. Danforth Company, one of the largest mechanical contractors in the Northeast! We are looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Construction Billing Specialist to support our project teams by preparing accurate, timely AIA-based progress billings. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers and the Accounting team to ensure billings align with contract terms, approved Schedules of Values (SOVs), percent complete, and compliance requirements. This position plays a critical role in supporting cash flow, financial reporting, and overall project success. Are you organized, deadline-driven, and experienced with AIA billing? Requirements

  • 3+ years of construction billing experience with AIA progress billings
  • Strong understanding of SOVs, retainage, and percent complete billing
  • Experience reviewing contracts and change orders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with construction accounting or ERP systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit monthly AIA progress billings (G702/G703 or equivalent)
  • Set up and maintain Schedules of Values (SOVs), including approved change orders
  • Update percent complete, retainage, and prior billings accurately
  • Assemble and submit required billing documentation, including lien waivers and compliance items
  • Submit invoices through owner and GC billing portals such as Textura, Procore, and e-Builder
  • Track billing status, approvals, and rejections, and follow up as needed
  • Partner with Project Managers to resolve billing questions or discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate billing records and support month-end close and WIP reporting
