About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Bindery Multi-Competency Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various bindery processes and machinery, capable of operating multiple types of equipment efficiently while maintaining quality standards. You will be an integral part of our production team, ensuring that all printed materials are completed on time and to specification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in bindery processes is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a bindery or print production environment, with proficiency in operating multiple types of bindery machinery.
  • Strong mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Basic math skills for job calculations and measurements.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed, including overtime during peak production periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Moderate noise level due to operation of machinery that can be intense or continuous.
  • Moderate exposure to dirt and dust; frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Working near continually rotating moving parts and mechanical parts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain various bindery equipment, including but not limited to, cutters, folders, stitchers, laminators, and perfect binders.
  • Set up machines for different jobs and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the production process.
  • Monitor production runs for quality assurance, ensuring that all products meet client specifications and company standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on bindery equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with the production team to establish efficient workflows and timelines for job completion.
  • Assist in training new bindery operators and staff on equipment operation and safety protocols.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Lift and move materials as needed, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding job progress, any issues encountered, and suggestions for process improvements.
