About The Position

This individual is responsible for responsible for feed safety and quality by operating block cooker/cooling equipment to manufacture block feeds to specified feed formulations. This individual will operate automated or manual equipment, pumps, pre-mix addition systems, and routing systems to manufacture feed per established procedures. This individual is also responsible for performing cost-effective, preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on plant facilities and equipment to minimize down-time within the facility.

Requirements

  • Manufacturing experience, preferred
  • Reading, writing, and mathematical skills at a high school level
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of individuals in an appropriate manner
  • Ability to work in and promote a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate start up/shut down and production
  • Communicate with appropriate personnel
  • Maximize plant efficiency
  • Follow company policies regarding quality, service, and safety
  • Manufacture all products according to formulations provided by the Corporate Office
  • Batch, mix, and route feed according to specified formulas, procedures, and schedule
  • Fully utilize batching, mixing, and routing equipment and destination tanks
  • Properly weight all pre-mix additions according to specified formulas and add to the mixer at the appropriate time
  • Safely operate mixing equipment in a manner so as to not harm yourself, fellow employees, or damage plant equipment
  • Complete and maintain assigned reports, records, and documents
  • Assist in maintaining equipment, installation, and repair records and preventative maintenance schedules
  • Communicate, prioritize, and coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with plant management
  • Perform assigned routine and preventative maintenance as required
  • Establish and maintain a complete inventory of shop tools, spare equipment, essential repair parts, and maintenance supplies
  • Interpret and understand electrical, mechanical, air and hydraulic systems to trouble-shoot and diagnose problems
  • Keep equipment and work areas clean and neat in appearance
  • Comply with OSHA regulations, company safety rules, and policies and procedures
  • Safely operate equipment in a manner so as not to harm yourself or others, or damage equipment
  • Properly use and operate all equipment
  • Perform overtime and other duties and functions as required
