About The Position

Red Rabbit is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our Finance Team. This role supports the day-to-day financial operations of a growing, multi-state organization and plays a critical role in maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely reporting. This is a hands-on, execution-focused position within a collaborative finance function. It is a part-time individual contributor role with meaningful responsibility and accountability. The Bookkeeper will work closely with the CFO and other members of the Finance Team to ensure clean books, strong internal controls, and reliable financial visibility across the organization.

Requirements

  • 3–7+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Strong experience with Xero (required)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets (reconciliations, pivot tables, formulas)
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently in a remote environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-state environment preferred
  • Familiarity with contract-based businesses or school food operations is a plus
  • Takes pride in accuracy, organization, and well-maintained financial systems
  • Works independently and follows through without close supervision
  • Communicates clearly and flags discrepancies early

Responsibilities

  • Record daily financial transactions and maintain the general ledger in Xero
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Process vendor payments and customer invoicing
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and track depreciation
  • Ensure accurate classification of revenue and expenses across multiple states and contracts
  • Support monthly close processes
  • Prepare monthly financial summaries and supporting schedules
  • Assist with year-end close and audit preparation
  • Maintain organized digital documentation and supporting records
  • Identify discrepancies and proactively resolve issues
  • Support sales tax tracking and filings as needed
  • Assist with payroll coordination and reporting
  • Ensure financial practices align with internal controls and company policy
  • Support documentation related to government and school contracts
