About The Position

MSSU is c urrently seeking candidates for a clinical instructor or tenure-track assistant professor for an on campus Social Work Program in Joplin, MO starting August 2026. This position includes an appointment as the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program Director. Successful candidates will have demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and advising at the undergraduate level. Candidate must hold an MSW from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program with two years post degree experience in social work practice; candidate must also have a PhD or DSW in Social Work to be considered for a ranked tenure-track appointment. It is preferred that the candidate has a minimum of three years of experience teaching at the undergraduate level and a record of publications. Preference will be given to candidates who are hold a social work license and a record of successful experience in administration in a social work agency or educational setting. Candidates with work experience directly related to oversite and implementation of CSWE accreditation in BSW and/or MSW programs are strongly preferred. BSW Director responsibilities include but not limited to: Oversite of CSWE accreditation standards and implementation in program development and curriculum. Oversee admission process social work majors, academic advising and facilitate program and university student policies. Mentor and evaluate faculty teaching and ensure accurate and timely data collection of programs assessment measures. Collaborate with field education coordinator, advisory board and stakeholders. In addition to BSW Program Director administrative responsibilities, the successful candidate will teach social work courses and engage in service to the Department, College, University and profession. Candidate must have demonstrated expertise in field of social work practice at the individual, family, group, organization and/or community level. Areas of social work specialty can include direct client general practice, administration and policy, and social welfare research and/or program evaluation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students and community partners required. ? Requirements
