Position Overview: The Budget Coordinator works closely with finance, grants, contracts, and program leadership to track expenditures, support forecasting, and prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders and external funders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in budgeting, financial coordination, or grants management.
  • Experience working with government-funded programs, nonprofit organizations, or public health initiatives.
  • Experience with federal grants (e.g., SAMHSA, HHS, CDC).
  • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and cost allocation principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting crisis services, behavioral health, or public health programs.
  • Knowledge of financial systems such as NetSuite, Adaptive Planning, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and reconciliation of annual and multi-year budgets for 988 programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor monthly expenditures against approved budgets and identify variances or trends.
  • Support forecasting and reallocation of funds to ensure optimal use of resources.
  • Prepare routine financial reports for program leadership, executive management, and funders.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and private funding requirements, including SAMHSA and other government grants.
  • Assist with audits, fiscal reviews, and documentation requests related to 988 funding.
  • Collaborate with grants and contracts teams to track funding allocations, allowable costs, and spending deadlines.
  • Support budget narratives, amendments, and financial sections of grant proposals and renewals.
  • Ensure expenditures align with grant agreements, scopes of work, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Serve as a financial liaison between the finance department and 988 program staff.
  • Provide budget guidance to non-finance staff to support informed decision-making.
  • Participate in meetings related to program planning, funding strategy, and operational scaling.
  • Maintain accurate financial data in accounting and budgeting systems.
  • Support process improvements to enhance efficiency, transparency, and reporting accuracy.
  • Develop tools or templates to streamline budget tracking and communication
  • Other duties as assigned.
