About The Position

Independence Excavating (“IX”) is seeking an experienced well-connected business development professional to manage our current client base as well as develop new client opportunities in our target markets. The ideal candidate has a knack for building relationships, developing a pipeline of qualified opportunities, and participating with internal departments on capture strategies utilizing in depth knowledge of the clients’ needs and procurement processes. This champion will bring a technical understanding of complex civil project work and be able to communicate key project performance areas with clients. Who is IX? Requirements

  • 5-10 Years experience in business development preferably in civil construction.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of key industries (industrial, manufacturing, power, & renewables).
  • Desire and confidence in developing relationships with key individuals within the corporate and operations team.
  • Proactively engages clients to anticipate their needs and provide support.
  • Strong understanding of sales marketing techniques and presentations.
  • Must reside near Cleveland or Pittsburgh; Position is hybrid with travel up to 50%.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • knowledge of Salesforce a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate new client relationships through market research, outreach, and in-person client meetings.
  • Attend and represent our brand at local and regional events, association luncheons, and conferences.
  • Assist with developing strategies to obtain opportunities with Potential clients within the company’s target markets.
  • Manage and maintain existing long-term client relationships by understanding clients’ needs, participating in technical discussions, and providing prompt response to client requests.
  • Identify market/industry trends to position the company for growth through strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to assist in proposal development, capture strategy, and client negotiations.
